Wildlife & Bird Feeding

The wildlife around Summit Acres changes with the seasons, but the goal stays the same: create a place where birds can feed, rest, and return every day. This page brings together the feeders, food, cameras, and equipment behind our wildlife videos and livestreams.

Current Feeder Setup

Our feeders are always evolving as we learn what attracts different species. This is the current arrangement featured in our videos and livestreams.

Feeders We Use

Platform Feeder

The heart of our feeder setup. Larger birds like California Scrub-Jays, Northern Flickers, Mourning Doves, and other ground-feeding visitors gather here throughout the day.

Suet Feeder

One of the busiest feeders throughout the year. The suet feeder is especially popular with Northern Flickers, Downy Woodpeckers, Red-breasted Nuthatches, and other insect-eating birds looking for a high-energy food source.

Our hummingbird feeder provides a reliable nectar source during the warmer months and is a favorite stop for Anna's Hummingbirds. It's one of the most peaceful parts of the feeder setup, especially when a hummingbird pauses to perch between drinks.
